aiderHelper

An MCP tool that lets Claude hand coding jobs to aider. A cheaper model runs behind aider, which was meant to save Claude Code tokens on work that did not need the expensive model. It was an experiment. It sits on the sideline for now because the results with Kimi K2.5 behind aider were not good enough to keep using.

About this project

An MCP tool that wraps aider as a coding assistant for other Claude sessions. The idea was that Claude could hand coding tasks to aider running a cheaper model, saving the more expensive Anthropic Claude Code tokens.

In practice I don't use it at the moment. I'm on a Claude Code Pro subscription, and my own tokens cover what I need day to day. It is parked rather than retired.

The main reason it is parked: with Kimi K2.5 sitting behind aider, the output was not good enough. Even with Claude choosing what to hand off, the results came back patchy. Partly it needed a stronger model, partly the way work got split was not cohesive enough for aider to make sense of. I may come back to this when there is a model I trust more behind it.
